Our Roads Are Nothing More Than Speed Traps, The Speed Limit Lie
Speed kills. We've heard the message so many times, that we readily accept that high rates of speed on our roadways results in mangled bodies, totaled vehicles and ruined proms. But is it true? An October, 1992 study for the US Department of Transportation Federal Highway Administration showed that lowering speed limits by 15 mph or raising them by 20 mph resulted in no change in the how fast people drive. What makes the location that Transocean chose potentially far riskier than other potential oil deposits located at other regions of the Gulf?
