Calling Foreign Debt 'Immoral,' Leader Allows Ecuador to Default
Saturday, December 13, 2008; D01 Ecuador's President Rafael Correa said yesterday that his nation is defaulting on its foreign debt, fulfilling his longtime populist pledge to leave international creditors in the lurch. The default, Ecuador's second in 10 years, could rattle already jittery investors who have pulled billions of dollars out of emerging markets in recent months as the global financial crisis has spread. It could also set back U.S. interests in Latin America, as Correa now seeks to deepen financial ties with allies like Iran, which this week granted the South American nation a new $40 million credit line.. » read more

Mexican Gangsters Converting America's National Parks Into Gigantic Marijuana Patches
November 13, 2008 Vast tracts of our most treasured public lands, supposedly set aside in perpetuity for Americans, are no longer controlled by the United States government. Instead, they have been invaded and taken over by Mexico's violent criminal drug organizations to grow marijuana. Even more shocking: Mexican cartels have been growing marijuana for at least 10 years in Sequoia National Park, one of the crown jewels of the system. Nature-loving hikers are compelled to accept that parts of Sequoia are "no go zones" during the growing season. These Mexican marijuana messes are an ecological disaster.. » read more

Obama Tells US Military To Prepare For ‘Rapid Destruction’ Of Israel
Nov. 11, 2008 Russian Intelligence Analysts are reporting to Prime Minister Putin today that President-Elect Obama has ordered US Military Forces to prepare for the ‘immediate and rapid destruction’ of Israel ‘as we now know it’ upon his taking office on January 20, 2009. President-Elect Obama’s orders to his Military Forces, these reports state, are based upon his belief that the only way for the United States to achieve peace in the Middle East and allow him to withdrawal American Troops is for Israel to return all of the lands they captured during their 1967 war against their Arab neighbors and allow the Palestinian peoples their own country with East Jerusalem as their capital. Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert upon being briefed by Obama’s top Foreign Affairs Officials about what is going to be expected of his Nation made an historic call to Israel’s special Knesset session marking the 13th anniversary of Prime Minister Rabin’s assassination to state: “We must give up Arab neighborhoods in Jerusalem and return to the core of the territory that is the State of Israel prior to 1967, with minor corrections dictated by the reality created since then.” Israeli News Sources are also confirming our earlier reports that Obama Forces have been meeting secretly with Palestinian Hamas Forces to negotiate the immediate establishment of a Palestinian state, and as we can read as reported by the Ynet News Service: “Ahmad Yousuf, Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh's political advisor, said that during the recent US presidential race a secret meeting between senior Islamist group figures and advisors to President-elect Barack Obama was held in Gaza.. » read more

ARGENTINA: Govt Announces End of Private Pension Funds
BUENOS AIRES, Oct 21 (IPS) - Against the backdrop of the current global financial turmoil, Argentine President Cristina Fernández on Tuesday proposed the elimination of the privately administered retirement accounts created 14 years ago. The president described the private pension funds as "plundering," when she made the announcement in the National Security System Administration (ANSES), which will absorb the personal accounts if a draft law introduced by the government is passed. The head of ANSES, Amado Boudou, said the initiative would "put an end to the failed experiment" of the private pension funds, and added that to maintain the "illusion" of private pension funds, the state pays 4.0 billion pesos (1.3 billion dollars) a year to top up the monthly pension payments of retirees with private accounts.. » read more
Brazil: Reform of Global Financial System Needed, Says Minister
RIO DE JANEIRO, Sep 26 (IPS) - A new international financial architecture, based on different rules, is a reform that has long been demanded by different sectors and is now "inevitable" in the face of the "universal and systemic crisis" originating in the United States, says Brazilian Finance Minister Guido Mantega. The need for "regulation, controls and supervision" to limit excessive indebtedness on the part of financial institutions has been highlighted by the crisis, which is systemic because it has "obstructed credit" around the world and created difficulties for all financial institutions, the minister said Thursday at a press conference with foreign reporters in Rio de Janeiro. Unless there are new rules, "confidence, which is vital in the financial system, will not be restored," he said, announcing that he would raise the issue at an International Monetary Fund (IMF) meeting to be held in Washington in early October. The crisis may be creating a new world scenario, in which "the role of advanced countries, that are in fact prostrated" by economic and demographic stagnation, will give way to greater leadership by "emerging countries, that represent the future" because of their population, wealth and economic growth, he said. It is no longer possible to keep countries that today are "the engines of global growth" out in the cold, with scant representation or none at all on international bodies, he added, mentioning BRIC (Brazil, Russia, India and China), which is excluded from the Group of Seven most powerful countries (G7), in which Russia has only "partial" participation.. » read more
