Libyan aid ship resumes sailing from Crete island to Gaza
GAZA, (PIC)-- Palestinian lawmaker Jamal Al-Khudari and Arab Knesset member Ahmed Tibi said that the Libyan aid ship resumed sailing towards the Gaza Strip after its arrival at the Greek island of Crete in the Mediterranean sea. The lawmakers, who are following up the movement of the ship, added in a press release on Sunday that the ship's arrival at the island was according to a plan set by the Gaddafi international charity and development Foundation. Khudari noted that the ship is loaded with relief aid and medicines funded by the Gaddafi foundation in coordination with the popular campaign against the siege that provided lists of Gaza needs. Earlier, spokesman for the Gaddafi foundation Mashallah Zwy told, by phone, the French press agency that the foundation members aboard the ship do not seek any confrontation or provocation in the event of their exposure to an Israeli military action. In another incident, a group of Jordanian trade unionists said they would leave Amman for Gaza on Tuesday and would try to enter through the Rafah border crossing to deliver humanitarian aid to Gaza people.. » read more

Oh No, It Just Can’t Be – Gulf Disaster
I received this note: “Thanks for the Gulf update! But you forgot one important recommendation – MOVE OUT OF THERE IMMEDIATELY! Pack up your wife and kids and get the heck out of there NOW!!! Many already in those Gulf States are being slowly poisoned, but now with the new storm or anyone storm yet to come they will get well oiled and gassed with many, many VOCs from the heavy rain and wind. People need to get out of there! Curious don’t you think that with all they know, all the articles and news about people getting ill, crops and landscapes dying inland from the toxic rain falling there in the last few weeks, that there has been NO mass exodus of people leaving those affected areas?” Kind of extreme don’t you think? Don’t you think it’s better to wait for an evacuation order from the government? I don’t think so because if you wait for the government to warn about dangerous toxic exposures you are waiting on an organization famous for allowing industry, doctors and dentists to expose the public to massive amounts of chemicals and heavy metals. On Saturday 5th June, 2010, 35 heavily armed Israeli Navy Seals commandeered our boat, MV Rachel Corrie, one of the Freedom Flotilla, in International waters (30 miles off the coast of Gaza). As they did so, we 19 humanitarian activists and crew, sat on the deck. We were quietly anxious, aware of the solitary figure in the wheelhouse with his hands held high against the window, in full view of the three Israeli warships, 4 approaching zodiacs and 2 commando carriers, whose guns were pointing in his direction. I personally wondered if the courageous Derek Graham would live to tell the tale, conscious of what happened on the Turkish ship, Mavi Marmara, earlier in the week. 'Rachel Corrie' ignores Navy request to stop
According to the Israel Defense Forces Spokesperson's Office, the ship was told: "This is the Israeli Navy. You are approaching an area of hostility, which is subject to a naval blockade. The Gaza area, the coastal region and the Gaza harbor are closed to all maritime traffic… You are hereby requested to change your course and refrain from entering the area. I repeat: Delivery of humanitarian supplies to the civilian population in the Gaza Strip is possible, through formal land crossings between Israel and the Gaza Strip, subject to prior coordination with the Israeli authorities." The ship's passengers, the IDF said, chose to ignore the order given to them about 70 kilometers from the coast and to continue towards Gaza.. » read more

The MV Rachel Corrie cargo ship, whose passage to join the Freedom Flotilla may have been delayed because of sabotage by Israelis, is now heading for Gaza — and it has the full support of the Irish government. This is no longer just a question of how easily Israel can trample on the rights of a humanitarian organization. The Irish prime minister, Brian Cowen, has warned Israel that it will face “the most serious consequences” in the event that any harm comes to Irish citizens on board the humanitarian relief vessel.
